Having a Kilkenny background, and relatives in Carlow, I have known the Carlow dining scene, it could be said, almost intimately over the years! I spent much of my childhood summers in nearby Tullow on my aunt’s farm and, in later years, we were very frequent visitors to visit her in when she had then moved to Carlow town, to take her out for the statutory lunch or dinner. Believe me it was not easy over the years to find somewhere that was above the very basic lunchtime hotel carvery! I despaired on many an occasion!

Consequently, it was like a breath of fresh air when Sinead Byrne first opened Lennons Café Bar on Tullow Street a few years ago bringing a touch of modern dining and food to the denizens of the town. It proved an instant hit.
